About

Souths Junior Cricket Club (SJCC) was incorporated in 2001.

​

We are a not-for-profit club run by volunteers that provides junior cricket programs for girls and boys aged 5 to 16 years and pathways into adult cricket. We are located on the south side of Brisbane at Fehlberg Park, Venner Road, Fairfield, where we share training facilities with South Brisbane District Cricket Club.

 

SJCC fields junior boys and girls teams in Qld Cricket, Brisbane Metropolitan South West Junior Cricket Association competition and Warehouse Winter competition.

 

Our club places a strong emphasis on participation, skills development, fair play, respect for others and above all, enjoyment of the game of cricket.

Where We Play & Train

Games

Summer Junior Matches are played against teams in the MSW Zone and can take place anywhere from Kenmore to Park Ridge and Macgregor to Wolston Park.

Winter Junior matches are played against various teams in the Metro Brisbane area.

The match draw and field locations will be posted on the PlayHQ website prior to the start of the season.

Training

Training schedule for the 2023-24 season is below. 

 

All training is conducted at South Brisbane District Cricket Club, Fehlberg Park, Venner Road, Fairfield unless another arrangement is approved by the Committee.

NOTE: For Insurance reasons, players cannot begin training if they are not registered.

Souths Nets Facility

Rules for Use of SBDCC Nets

 

The nets facility at Souths is owned by the Qld Premier Grade club South Brisbane District Cricket Club (SBDCC) and is used by Souths Junior Cricket Club (SJCC) for our summer and winter seasons as per an agreement between the two clubs.  

 

SJCC players are only allowed to train at the SBDCC net facility on the allotted time and day.  All other use must be organised through either SJCC or SBDCC.

 

On SJCC training days, all other users of these facilities will vacate the nets.

 

See below rules for safe use of these facilities :

 

  1. Only players and coaches are permitted to enter the nets area during training.

  2. All players & coaches are to adhere to any directions given by the SJCC Age Group Coordinator or SBDCC Nets Manager during training.

  3. All players & coaches entering and leaving the net area will do so only by the gate at the Eastern (away from clubhouse) end of the facility.

  4. All players & coaches entering the net facility must be suitably attired – no singlets, thongs or inappropriate footwear.

  5. The seven central nets are to be used by SJCC teams with the two nets at either end reserved for other users.

  6. All players are to wear helmets, protectors and pads when batting.

  7. Players conduct will be monitored and any misbehaving players will be ejected.

  8. All players and coaches are to be mindful of the obvious dangers associated with being within the net facility, particularly when older players are practising, and we ask that, for safety reasons, any conversations that need to be conducted are conducted outside the confines of the net facility.
